Shingle Roof Repair and Vent Flashing Replacement in Simi Valley

On June 12, 2025, our team at Roof Repair & Construction Inc completed a targeted repair project at 5962 Fearing St in Simi Valley, CA. This residential shingle roof showed multiple signs of aging and weather damage, particularly near vent flashings and shingle seams. The roof had several areas where shingles were missing or deteriorated, exposing the underlayment and in some spots, the wood decking itself.

Upon closer inspection, we discovered wood rot under a large section of displaced shingles near several plumbing vent pipes. These areas had absorbed water over time, causing the underlying layers to weaken. We removed all compromised materials, replaced sections of wood decking, and installed new underlayment before sealing the area with properly layered architectural shingles.

The vent flashings were also a major concern. Several had severe rust, with peeling paint and exposed edges. These were completely replaced with new galvanized flashings and sealed with roof mastic for long-term protection. In other roof sections, we patched up minor lifting and reinforced shingle tabs using roofing cement to prevent uplift during future windstorms.

This repair not only corrected visible damage but also prevented potential water infiltration that could have led to interior ceiling damage. The client can now rest assured their roof is sealed, vented, and reinforced for the coming seasons.
